Miami Holidays: Accommodation Guide

Choosing where to stay in Miami is important. The area you choose will set the tone for your vacation. That’s why I always ask myself first, “What do I want to do?” Beach, nightlife, and museum visits? You should choose your accommodation area carefully based on how you plan your vacation. Each area in Miami has its own story and vacation vibe. Below, I’ve reviewed the 10 most popular areas in Miami for you.

1.South Beach

South Beach means sun, sand, and fun until dawn. I’m a classic person. When I come to Miami, I book a room at one of the hotels around South Beach. South Beach is the postcard image of Miami. Morning walks among the Art Deco hotels on Ocean Drive are a lot of fun. The beaches start filling up early in the morning. The fun continues on these beaches until sunset. If you’re staying here, I recommend choosing a hotel close to the beach. You can step out of your hotel and be right on the beach. If you want nightlife, beaches, and fun, this should be your first choice.

2.Downtown Miami

Downtown Miami is the center where skyscrapers and cultural landmarks converge. You can enrich your city tour with museums such as the Pérez Art Museum (PAMM) and Frost Science. PAMM and Frost Science have collections and interactive exhibits that will surprise you. The small train called Metromover helps you explore the area more comfortably. What’s more, traveling on this train is free.

3.Brickell

Brickell is like the Manhattan of the South. Here, you’ll find modern hotels, rooftop bars, and chic cafes. You can enjoy a classic Brickell experience by taking in the view of Biscayne Bay from a high-rise hotel and sipping cocktails on a rooftop in the evening. This area is also quite lively in the evenings. However, as it is an area with heavy business traffic, it can get quite crowded on weekdays.

4. Wynwood

Let’s take street art enthusiasts here. Wynwood is like an open-air museum for street art lovers. Open-air galleries like Wynwood Walls are popular spots for photographers and art lovers. You can explore all the streets with guided tours. You should set aside at least half a day to take photo breaks and wander through the galleries. There are small galleries, cafes, and craft beer spots throughout the neighborhood. If you want a creative and art-filled atmosphere, you should book your hotel room in Wynwood right away.

5.Little Havana

Walking around Calle Ocho is like following the scent of fresh espresso for me. Street chess, salsa rhythms, and Cuban cuisine are part of everyday life here. You can have dinner at classic restaurants like Versailles.

If you want to feel the spirit of Little Havana, you should walk through its alleys. Watching the elderly play chess on the corner of Domino Park was a cultural experience in itself for me.

6.Coconut Grove

Grove is one of Miami’s most peaceful corners. Coconut Grove is one of Miami’s oldest settlements. It has a peaceful atmosphere. With palm trees, boutique shops, and seaside parks, it has a tranquil vibe. I always visit the Farmers Market on weekends. You can find fresh fruits, snacks, and handmade products at the local producers’ stands. If you want a quiet, local experience, I recommend including this in your plans.

7.Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne is a short drive from the city center. If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can choose this place. Crandon Park is one of the best places for families with its wide and quiet beaches. If you want to go on a nature walk, bike ride, or picnic, this is the place for you. Key Biscayne is one of Miami’s most peaceful places to stay for honeymooners, those seeking tranquility, and families with children.

8.Miami Design District

Here, art, gallery visits, and luxury shopping go hand in hand. Walking among art galleries, modern sculptures, and luxury fashion boutiques, I feel like I’m in a contemporary open-air museum. If you’re planning a design-focused vacation, I recommend staying in an area close to here. Morning coffees, chic restaurants for lunch, and afternoon galleries are part of the classic rhythm here. However, accommodation options in the Miami Design District area are quite limited.

9.MiMo

MiMo is Miami’s nostalgic face for me. Retro motels from the 1950s, neon signs, and pastel-colored buildings give this place a unique atmosphere. There are no big chain hotels here. Instead, there are boutique hotels with their own unique character. The small cafes and restaurants here also have a friendly and local atmosphere. If you are looking for a quieter, more aesthetic place to stay, away from the tourist crowds, MiMo is the right choice for you.

10.Coral Gables

Coral Gables is an area where Mediterranean architecture meets the tropical climate. Houses with windows surrounded by flowers, wide streets, and lush green parks are another side of the city. Venetian Pool is one of the most beautiful public pools in the world. Miracle Mile is full of boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants.

No matter which area of Miami you stay in, you will leave this city with fond memories. The city draws you in with its energy. Don’t forget to book your tickets for museums and popular tours in advance. It’s hard to find a spot during the busy season.
